Stanley B. Herman
(Uncle Hank from “Requiem for a Dream”)
finds Mike Butler’s tribute to him

And here it is...

Dear Mike Butler,

A friend of mine who is a breast man discovered your creative editorial on the ass2ass man from “Requiem for a Dream”... And then he naturally called me.

Mike your article was very witty, I enjoyed reading it and thanks for hooking it up to a link to my audio interview which was converted to text. When I did the interview, I thought it was a good opportunity to inspire others based on my trip... didn’t think for one minute that it would provide work. I did get responses from aspiring artists, so it was worthwhile. This is Stanley B. Herman alias Uncle Hank.

Hey, I certainly would have liked to be interviewed by Mr. Lipton on Bravo... it didn’t happen. Can you set it up... I’ll tell them about the time I opened and promoted as a never been before distributor and promo man the greatest porno film ever made. It comprised the pornicopia of the hard-core world... John Holmes, Jamie Gillis, Annette Haven, Serena, Seka, John Leslie and on and on. (I don’t think he’d consider the subject matter.)

But for you, the original name of the film was “Dracula Sucks” shot in R & X. No distributor wanted to buy it because it was a spoof on Bram Stokers original “Dracula” story line almost to a “T”... a couple of hundred thousand dollar production, great production value and acting... a lot of bucks in the late 70’s. However, bottom line not enough cum shots for the standard xxx rated distributors, couldn’t relate to it.

The owners of the film sold the R rated and couldn’t get rid of the xxx. A talented friend of mine directed it and asked me because of my nature and promotional artistic talent to help him sell it. I was reluctant, but being a friend I checked out the film and was impressed with it overall considering it was a hard-core film. One scene stood out in my mind, the one where Dracula, Jamie Gillis (Dracula) takes Annete Haven (Mina) sexually to be his bride... beautiful moment... and from this I saw a potential and developed a marketing and promotional concept based on it. Decided to introduce it like Gone With The Wind... make a big event out of it.

I retitled the film to “The Coming of Dracula’s Bride” (in a wedding night you’ll never forget). I finally convinced the Art Theater Guild Chain to take it on as a test in San Francisco at the Persidio Theater and a few others.

I promoted it on radio with spots as the first hard-core suspense film, posters all over the city... heavy concentration. Had a classy premiere night, spot lights and all. Invited all the media and they showed up to meet the pretty cast and eat a cake that bled blood. First xxx rated to get reviewed by Gerald Nochman of the San Francisco Chronicle... he came to the premiere.

At the last minute I protested the film as a renegade of the “Dracula Society” and a diehard Sanfrancisian who was going down to the theater to bust up the place. I called all the Eye Witness TV News station to tell them this. And what do you think ABC went for it, hook, line and sinker. End result... the incident that evening went on ABC News.

We broke all box office records for a picture of this kind. This was my first encounter with Porno and my last... wasn’t my bag... did a friend a favor.

I am now enjoying my acting and modeling career very much... I am an old new face on the scene. And in 4 new films to be released next year, and I am sure to be in Darren Aronofsky’s next one.

Stay in the moment... best wishes,
Uncle Stanley, 9/26/2003

Stanley would like to add that the director of “The Coming of Dracula’s Bride” was Phil Marchak, who has directed movies for the past 20 years. Movies such as Night Train to Terror.
